One senior on the Melcher-Dallas boys Track and Field Squad that hopes not to lose his final season to the COVID-19 pandemic is Emery Sage. Sage is trying for a return trip to the state meet after qualifying in two events last year. He helped the 4×800 meter relay team to a 16th place finish and ran 23rd in the 1600 at the Blue Oval last spring. His coach, John Suntken tells KNIA Sports Sage is a model student on and off the athletic field.

Sunkten:
“You talk about a role model any school would want, he would be the one that comes to me. He’s a great kids, helps everyone, pushes his teammates, and his work ethic is impeccable.”

Sage reached the state cross country meet this fall finishing 23rd in the class 1A meet.
