While normally we do not usually talk about high school baseball at this time of the year, local high school baseball coaches would be getting their teams in order preparing for the upcoming season this summer. But with the shutdown of sports, those plans, like spring activities, are on hold. Melcher-Dallas Baseball Coach Pat Ferguson tells KNIA Sports the spring is where his team would meet for conditions and pitchers and catchers would get some reps in as well.

Ferguson:
“The original game plan was to start working out in the gym was March 30th. We usually work out and go hard at conditioning and weights things like that. We would have been hitting it hard right now.”

The Saints as the schedule is now is Monday May 25th against Earlham. However that is very fluid and likely will change due to the schedule guidelines set forth by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
