The track and field season for Knoxville has been cancelled. The Panthers got the message last week when the state decided to cancel the spring sports season due to Governor Kim Reynolds declaring all schools would remain closed through the end of the semester. While not surprising, it is a jolt to everyone involved on the boys track and field program as six seniors saw their season and careers end. Coach Eric Kellar tells KRLS Sports for the most part, the seniors have the baseball season to look forward to, but for the ones like Jordan Bacon, who was looking to run distance events, Kellar says the cancellation was especially rough.
Kellar:
“This year was the first year that he took it real seriously and he was working all winter and before track started he was in great shape and working hard, so that was one we we’re really banking on getting to state, so that was rough on him.
The six seniors who saw their careers abruptly end were Blaise Hubler, Milo Johnston, Landon Dursky, Colton Jones, Bacon, and Carter Bailey.
