The Pella Community School District intends to continue weekly meal distribution as long as they can after schools have been closed due to COVID-19. Pella Schools Superintendent Greg Ebeling says an average of 1,000 meal requests have been made every Wednesday for the past three weeks since they switched from daily to weekly pickups. That means more than 10,000 actual meals have been given out per week, as each package includes five lunches and five breakfasts. Free meals will continue to be distributed every Wednesday from 10:30-11am at Jefferson Intermediate, Pella High School, and Madison Elementary, with hours extended to 11am-12:30pm at Jefferson.
