Devastating and sad. Those were just some of the words that area coaches have used to describe their feelings after learning the spring sports season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Melcher-Dallas Girls Track and Field Coach Amy Stuart tells KNIA Sports after learning the season was cancelled, her three seniors sent her a note of appreciation for what she meant in their lives.

Stuart:
“I was really sad that they we’re going to get the opportunity, but they were very nice of being thankful to me and thankful for the experience and that was a great thing to hear from your kids on such a hard day.”

The three seniors are Sarah Hyatt, Kaylee Maeschen, and Lilly Bennett.
