The Pella School Board has approved an overhaul of the volleyball program’s leadership roles for the upcoming academic year.

Megan Clayberg has been named the Director of Pella High School Volleyball Operations, while Mallory Peterson — an assistant this past fall, will become a varsity volleyball coach.

Clayberg will serve in more of an oversight role as part of the position, and while she will be directly coaching many of the athletes, her main focus will be mentorship of younger coaches, which allows for more flexibility, as finding a traditional head coach has been difficult for the volleyball program, especially after several resignations of coaches over the past few years.

Clayberg was the head coach of the Central volleyball team from 1991 to 2002, and remained an assistant until 2008. At Central, Megan compiled a 370-107 (.775) career record and guided the Dutch to seven NCAA tournament berths with four consecutive final four appearances and national championships in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
