One of the events that the Melcher-Dallas Girls Track and Field Squad was looking at as a possibility of getting to the state meet was the 4×200 meter relay team. Senior member of that foursome, Kaylee Maeschen, tells KNIA Sports there is an art to making sure who is in what place on the team to maximize their effort and lower the times.

Maeschen:
“Some people work better together with hand offs. We start out by seeing who is better to lead off or end the race. It’s just being able to find out to hand off to means a lot.”

Maeschen, a senior, adds they would have had a great chance to win conference and contend for state, but will never know due to the season being cancelled.
