The Pella City Council approved the Prairie Ridge Housing development agreement at their meeting this week. City Administrator Mike Nardini says the project will fill a definite need as it relates to workforce housing in the community, as the price points for 93 single family homes and 25 townhouses will fall between $180,000 to $250,000. The agreement includes provisions for Marion County to reimburse $4.5 million in infrastructure costs associated with streets and electricity, which will be built to City of Pella specifications. Nardini says the unique nature of this housing agreement has been drafted to ensure quality structures are built, but at the same time, remain affordable for the median-income family in Marion County. Developers with the ATI Group indicate construction will be done in phases for the new development, which will be located north of West Washington Street near Fifield Road.
