The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is promoting safe and responsible boating during National Safe Boating Week.

Brian Nail is Lake Manager at Red Rock and says the campaign promotes safe and responsible boating and the value of life jacket use by recreational boaters. Before casting off for a day on the water, he says boaters should take appropriate precautions. Nail says the best way to be safe on the water is to always wear a life jacket when boating or swimming in an open body of water such as Lake Red Rock and the Des Moines River.

Nail says everyone planning to be on the water this Memorial Day weekend should do so safely and responsibly by conducting a full inspection of the vessel and making any necessary repairs before venturing out.
