Bethany Christian Services’ annual “Tour de Toren” event took place May 15 and 16 with individuals, socially-distanced friends and families, riding bicycles and running throughout the 24-hour period. Josh Cowman with the group says the event is held to build awareness and raise funds for Bethany’s core programs supporting children and families: The Stronger Beginnings, Storyline Project, and Start Small Project.

Riders, runners, and friends performing other physical challenges like burpees and pushups were able to register and seek donors/sponsors for their efforts. Through the efforts of the Tour de Toren registrants, sponsors and donors from all over the country, the event has been able to raise almost $40,000 of the $50,000 goal. Donations can still be made via https://bethany.org/locations/us/iowa/pella/events/tour-de-toren-2020 as meeting the event goal allows for support for vulnerable expectant parents, mentor, and therapy services for children and families, as well as diapers for refugee families.
