melcher-dallas-5

With all the young players on this season’s Melcher-Dallas Baseball Squad, the Saints will have a few veterans that everyone can look up to and follow their lead this summer. Coach Pat Ferguson tells KNIA Sports that leadership may have to come from players who were thrown to the wolves last year as freshmen and sophomores but he thinks they are ready for that challenge.

Ferguson:
“Owen Sunkten, Logan Godfrey, and Max Enfield played ¾ of the season or more in different spots, and we’ve got Cole Metz, who’s a catcher but he can play everywhere, and then Anthony Schneider, who’s an outfield and he got a lot better. These players can only help us, they can’t hurt us.”

The Saints went 6-24 a year ago and with the shortened season, Ferguson believes they can be better. Melcher-Dallas is scheduled to start off the summer at Lamoni on June 16th.
