The Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday that after careful consideration and discussion with the City of Pleasantville, Pleasantville EMS, and the Marion County Department of Public Health, they have made the difficult decision to cancel all activities on the 4th of July, including the parade and fireworks show.

According to the chamber they waited as long as we could to make a decision, hoping the COVID-19 impact on our state, community, and neighbors would have lessened and allowed for the chamber to proceed as normal. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

The chamber says they understand that not everybody will agree, but they feel this is the best decision for the health and safety of the community, especially in light of the Governor’s May 26th proclamation continuing the State Public Health Emergency Declaration regarding mass gatherings and guidelines issued by the CDC.
