The Knoxville School Board met in regular session Monday. The board approved a resolution directing the sale of General Obligation School Bonds for the new middle school project with a 2.22% interest rate on the bonds.

They approved a variety of board memberships, and approved a tree removal proposal to remove 39 dead or dying ash trees around the district’s baseball and softball fields.

They approved the purchase of 200 additional iPads for West Elementary for $77,782.25, so that every student in kindergarten through 2nd grade could utilize an ipad each day. West Elementary Principal Ryan Klein told the board how the additional iPads would benefit the school during the COVID-19 pandemic as it would give every student an iPad so no student would need to share with another student, which is beneficial as their is still uncertainty regarding COVID-19.

The payment for the iPads was made possible with funds received by the district from the Federal CARES Act.
