The Pella School Board approved building and department handbook changes at their meeting today. The new handbook included a new plan to strengthen security at the high school, which includes identification badges for students being issued in the upcoming academic year.

The board also approved 2020-21 registration fees — which will remain the same as the previous academic year, as well as a strength and conditioning contract renewal with William Penn. The board also heard another update about Return to Learn Planning from Superintendent Greg Ebeling, which included building survey results, which had 300 employees respond and indicated that over 85% percent of staff are comfortable to return to work this fall. The other respondents were at least somewhat uncomfortable to be in the buildings. The initial Return to Learn Plan is due to the board and Department of Education by July 1st.

An update about graduation was also given, and it was announced the Central College Kuyper Fieldhouse will host commencement on Friday, June 19th at 6 p.m., with seats of graduates spaced out and other sanitary measures planned.
