The PCM baseball and softball teams hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to Saydel for Heart of Iowa Conference action. The baseball team picked up its first victory with a 4-3 decision over the Eagles. It was a defensive battle throughout the first four innings, as neither team could find the scoreboard during that time. The tides turned in the fifth when PCM scored all four of their runs. Saydel would add one run each in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, falling just short.

Dane Owens led the way at the plate, going 2-4 with an RBI. Beau Webb was the winning pitcher, giving up three hits and one walk while striking three batters out. PCM moves to 1-1 on the season.

The Mustang softball team scored two runs apiece in the second and third to take a lead they would not give up in a 5-3 win, their first of the season. Saydel answered with three in the bottom of the third, but an insurance run in the sixth helped PCM put the game away.

Paige Steenhoek and Hailey Schutte each picked up two base hits to lead the way. Steenhoek also went the distance in the circle, giving up six hits and three walks while striking out one batter. The win moves PCM to 2-1 on the season.

Both the Mustang baseball and softball teams are back in action this evening, hosting North Polk.
