pleasantville-3

The Pleasantville baseball and softball teams continued their season-opening road swing with a trip to Guthrie Center Thursday evening to take on ACGC. The Trojan softball team was able to break out of its early-season slump with a convincing 11-0 win, in a game that ended after six innings. Pleasantville scored one run in the first, but scored five, three and two runs in the final three innings respectively to seal the big win.

Junior Faith Vanderhart was 3-4 on the evening with a home run and 3 runs batted in. Josie Sowers had two hits and also drove in three runs. Vanderhart picked up the win in the circle, giving up two hits and six walks while striking out 10 batters. The win moves Pleasantville to 1-3 on the season. They’ll return to action Saturday in New Sharon at the North Mahaska Tournament.

The Trojan baseball team dropped to 0-4 with a 3-1 loss to the Chargers. ACGC scored sporadically, while Pleasantville did not score their lone run until the sixth inning. The Trojans will have the weekend off, and will return to action Monday at Earlham.
