With the Knoxville High School Graduation just over a week away and summer break in full swing for area students, many residents are still wondering if and when schools might open in the fall. School administrators across the state are currently working on Return to Learn Plans for their districts in hopes of opening their districts back up this fall while still slowing the spread of COVID-19.

The date school districts must have their Return to Learn Plan submitted to the state is July 1st, however, Knoxville Schools Superintendent Cassi Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS News parents and students shouldn’t expect an announcement regarding the return to school for some time. Pearson says Governor Reynolds has taken her time during the pandemic and not gone too far in advance with proclamations as she continues to receive new data, and she doesn’t expect an announcement regarding the reopening of schools until the beginning of August. As of now the Knoxville School District is planning an August 20th return to school.
