With summer in full swing, the Knoxville Recreation Center has announced their pool is open for water fitness classes and open swim. The pool had been limited to lap swim and swim instructions only following the center’s reopening following months of closure due to COVID-19. Wellness Supervisor for the Knoxville Recreation Center, Angela Jones tells KNIA/KRLS News during fitness classes participants remain at least six feet apart at all times. She says all equipment is provided by the instructor and is whipped down before and after each class. Jones says they continue to limit the number of people in each room as well as continuously spray air cleaner and have cleaning crews clean parts of the center throughout the day.

The center has also announced they will be conducting a Summer Fitness Challenge that will begin July 1st and run through August 31st. To take part in the challenge participants will need to attend 19 fitness classes during July and August to receive a free Rec Center drawstring bag full of prizes.
