The construction work on Iowa Avenue related to the Traffic Signal Project has slowed recently due to underground utility work. According to the most recent update from the City of Indianola, the utilities need to be relocated by specialized companies, and further complications have arisen from the discovery of sandy soil beneath the pavement. The sandy soil must be removed and replaced with a better quality material to ensure the long-term integrity of the new pavement. The project is partially funded by a grant, and work will continue throughout July.
