The Pleasantville summer teams traveled to Ogden Thursday evening to resume West Central Conference action. It was the home team coming away with two wins over the Trojans, 7-2 in the softball game and 7-3 in the baseball game.
The Bulldog softball team struck first with two runs in the second inning to take the advantage. Another run in the third and four in the fourth would round out the scoring for Ogden. Pleasantville put together two runs in the fifth, but that ultimately ended up being the final scoring.
Josie Sowers and Makenzie McGriff each had two base hits to lead the way. Faith Vanderhart was the pitcher of record, tossing the first 3 ⅔ innings, giving up seven hits and four walks while not picking up a strikeout. Pleasantville falls to 5-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference. They’ll be back in action Tuesday with a non-conference road trip to Osceola to take on Clarke.
The Trojan baseball team carried a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth, but that’s when Ogden took control. The Bulldogs did all their scoring in the bottom of the fifth, plating seven runs. Pleasantville responded with two runs in the top of the sixth, but that would complete the scoring.
Pleasantville falls to 2-10 overall and 1-6 in the conference. They’ll be back in action this afternoon for a non-conference tilt with North Mahaska. First pitch of the varsity contest is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the Pleasantville baseball field.
