The Knoxville Softball and Baseball Squads notched wins over Bondurant-Farrar last night with the softball squad in come-from-behind fashion 9-7 and the baseball squad getting a matter of revenge 7-4. In the softball game, the Panthers like many of their victories this season found themselves down in the late innings, this time 7-2 in the fifth inning. Knoxville allowed three early runs by the Bluejays before Brittany Bacorn hit a two run homer in the second to get Knoxville to within one at 3-2. The Bluejays responded with two runs in the third and two more in the top of the fifth before Knoxville made its comeback. In Knoxville’s half of the fifth, Melanie Sullivan led off with a walk, Emma Dunkin reached on a hit batsman, and Kalli Wilson singled to right field which loaded the bases for Maddy Findley and the hit of the game.

Knoxville would tie it in the bottom of the sixth once again by Findley on an RBI single, her fifth of the game. Ciara Heffron ended up bringing home the go-ahead and what proved to be the winning run with a two RBI single to right field. Meanwhile, about an hour northwest in Bondurant, the Knoxville Baseball Squad was getting a measure of revenge on a team that defeated the Panthers on opening night back on June 16th. Knoxville beat Bondurant-Farrar 7-4 last night. Knoxville jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Bluejays cut the lead to one at 5-4, but the Panthers slammed the door shut with a run in the fourth and sixth innings. Knoxville also benefited from five Bondurant-Farrar errors. Knoxville softball is now 8-3 while the baseball squad improves to 6-7. The softball squad heads to Pleasantville tonight for a game you can hear on 95.3 KNIA while baseball will host Clarke in a non-conference varsity only game starting at 5:30.
