pleasantville-3

The Pleasantville softball team played host to Wayne for its penultimate regular season game. It was the #5 in 1A Falcons who came away with a 13-3 win in five innings.

Wayne wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard, taking control of the game with eight runs scored in the top of the first. Four more runs in the top of the fourth increased the margin to 12-0, and the Trojans needed to score at least one run in the bottom of the frame to extend the game.

They did just that, plating three runs to make it 12-3, but Wayne scored another in the fifth to go up 10, which Pleasantville was unable to answer, ending the game after five. Pleasantville falls to 7-10 overall, and will conclude the regular season today, hosting Moravia. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in Pleasantville.

The Pleasantville baseball team will be in action this evening, as the Trojans begin the Class 2A postseason. Despite the struggles the Trojans have faced this season, they earned a home game against West Central Valley. The Wildcats, in their own right, have struggled this season, and enter with an overall record of 0-13.

Despite being in the same conference, the teams did not face each other in the regular season, due to the condensed schedule. Pleasantville has faced West Central Valley just twice in the VarsityBound era, and handily won both contests last season.

First pitch at the Pleasantville High School baseball field is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tonight’s winner earns a road trip to take on Van Meter Tuesday evening.
