Knoxville’s final regular season game with Centerville last night was rained out. Officials pushed the game up a couple of hours to avoid predicted rain, but the rain came anyway and washed the game out before either team could get warmed up. The game is cancelled and will not be made up. It was disappointing for fans, but more for the four seniors who were to be celebrated on Senior Night. Ben Olson, Blaise Hubler, Carter Bailey, and Colton Jones all say this season has been different, but they know they are playing their best baseball right now.

Ben Olson:
“Big improvement from last year, just playing well as a team this year. We had some struggles as we went on and just got better every game.”

Blaise Hubler:
“I just feel like we played better as a team this year, and it didn’t matter who was on the mound I feel like we played better in the field this year.”

Carter Bailey:
“I just think pitching we just need to throw strikes and we need to field the ball and can’t have a lot of errors in the field, and hitting just need to stay the way it’s been.”

Colton Jones:
“I think we need to relax and play the game the way it should be.”

The Panthers will now turn their attention to Friday’s Class 3A district opener at Winterset, a game you can hear live on 95.3 KNIA. You can also hear a full interview with the four Knoxville Baseball Seniors on tonight’s Radio Sports Page at 6:00pm on 92.1 KRLS.
