The Knoxville Baseball season came to an end on Friday before the Panthers even got a chance to play Winterset in the class 3A district. That is because a player on the Panther team tested positive for COVID-19, meaning Knoxville was forced to forfeit its first round game to the Huskies. Knoxville Coach Turner Devore was devastated by the news, and one of the hardest things he had to do was to tell the four seniors that their careers were over.

Devore:
“The definitely the hardest thing I had to do was to call the seniors and let them hear it first, I would have liked to have the team together but Mr. Paulsen advised me not to have the team together to reduce the chance that it spreads. Just telling the four seniors that they were very disappointed that they wouldn’t get to put the Panther uniform on again.”

The Marion County Health Department has advised all of the players and coaches to self isolate until July 27th. The Panthers finish their season with a record of 9-10, and see the careers of Ben Olson, Carter Bailey, Colton Jones and Blaise Hubler come to an end.
