Rico Abreu put on a Superman move on the last lap of the 410 A-Main on Saturday to steal the win at the Knoxville Raceway. Abreu was in fifth place with four laps left and started making his move as Brian Brown and Terry McCarl were battling for first place. Once Abreu got in the fight it was a three car battle as all three were within a half second of each other coming to the white flag. Abreu dove low in turn three and shot by both McCarl and Brown to take the lead coming for the checkered flag. Abreu’s season started off on the wrong foot, but in victory lane on Saturday he credited his crew for staying with the program.

Abreu:
“The communication has been so key, and not allowing anyone to get frustrated, and working through the tough times that we had at the beginning of the year, and solve problems that come up. That’s what makes this racing so good.”

It was Abreu’s second career win at Knoxville. Justin Henderson netted an extra $3,000 by winning the 360 A-Main as he also won the 360 race at Jackson Motorplex on Friday and a $3,000 bonus was put up for the driver who could sweep the weekend. Henderson passed Sam Hefertepe Jr. midway through the race and hung on for the win. Devin Kline, who had retired from racing two years ago was coaxed back into a Pro Sprints ride and won his second race of the 2020 season by taking the lead from Chris Walraven after a restart.
