Last Friday aside, the Knoxville baseball Squad had been playing much better in the last two weeks of the season. The Panthers in the last two weeks of the season went 5-5 ultimately finishing 9-10 on the season. Coach Turner Devore tells KRLS Sports even in losses he was pleased with the effort at the plate.

Devore:
“We’ve been hitting the ball well, even in the Indianola game, it was lopsided but we got a lot of guys on base and we had 9 or 10 hits, and I know they didn’t throw their best guy, but he was very respectable. We feel like we can do some things when we get on base and drive people in.”

The Panthers also saw a lot of progress on the mound with the addition of Carter Bailey as he was injured for most of the season and was not expected to pitch, but came back to post a 3-0 record in 18 innings of work, leading the Panthers with 32 strikeouts. He was going to be the starter last Friday in Knoxville’s first round class 3A district, but the game was cancelled due to a positive COVID-19 test on Knoxville’s squad.
