The theme of this week’s Thursdays in Pella was Life in the Fast Lane. Thursday’s activities highlighted the strong tradition of racing in south central Iowa, with Knoxville Raceway, Eddyville Raceway Park, Flying Dutch Mx, and English Creek Speedway all represented. Remote control cars, a race flag craft, and blutracks were stationed in Pella’s Central Park. Entertainment on the Tulip Toren included Pella graduate and musician Adam Whitehead, followed by a “Know Your Race Flags” presentation and the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum. The evening concluded with the Pella City Band at 8 p.m. Several sprint car racers featured at Knoxville Raceway and across the state had booths to meet with fans as well. The final Thursdays in Pella of the 2020 summer will be Ag in the City on July 30th.
