As we begin the Top 10 best moments countdown for area schools, we go back to the fall season, where a PCM freshman qualified for the state cross country meet. Paige Steenhoek finished 12th in the state qualifying meet in Williamsburg, earning an individual bid with a time of 20:08. Steenhoek says that she had to be convinced to go out for cross country instead of volleyball, and doing so paid off right away.

“Coach Karr told me my eighth grade year when I was going out for volleyball that if I were to go out for cross country my freshman year, I’d have a good shot. I didn’t exactly believe him, but now the experience is pretty cool.”

Steenhoek went on to finish in 44th place in Fort Dodge at the state meet with a time of 20:53.1.
