farmers-market

The Knoxville Farmers Market returns to the downtown square Saturday. Vendors will offer food and crafts for purchase. Judy Kinney of Knoxville operates a stand at the market, selling several items from her personal garden, including tomatoes, peppers, basil, squash and onions. She also offers homemade breads. Kinney says that much of her adult life has been centered around baking and gardening, and finds the farmers market to be a great way to share her passion with the community.

“I myself have baked all my adult life, so I use the bread to kind of keep myself in the game, so to speak. But I have gardened since I was a little girl, and I have a big garden. When I worked, I sold my produce to people I worked with. And then when I retired, that’s when I got involved in the market, so I could continue to garden and get rid of my produce.”

All items sold at the Knoxville Farmers Market must be grown or produced within 50 miles of town. Saturday’s market runs from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
