Multiple firefighters from the region responded to a large fire at a hay barn in rural Marion County Friday morning.

Columbia Fire Chief John Pierce tells KNIA/KRLS News that 800 bales of hay caught fire in a barn at 2149 103rd Avenue near Columbia at approximately 4 a.m., and crews spent nearly two hours fighting flames.

Columbia Fire, Knoxville Township Rural Fire, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Pella Rural Fire, Melcher-Dallas Fire, Pleasantville Fire, Indiana Township Fire, Williamson Fire, Chariton Fire, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and possibly other agencies responded. No injuries were reported on scene.
