The NCAA has announced that it’s cancelling Division III championships for the 2020 fall sports season. The organization says the decision was made with the health and safety of the division’s student-athletes, coaches, athletics administrators and communities as its priority.

This means that there will be no national postseason tournaments in any fall sports. Regular seasons will still be allowed to take place, under guidance determined by each conference. Locally, this affects Central College and Simpson College.

The NCAA also announced today that student-athletes will be allowed to opt out of their seasons due to COVID-19 concerns. They have not made a decision regarding eligibility of student athletes who opt out.
