twin-cedars-melcher-dallas-showdown-rivalry

The number three sports story for the Twin Cedars school year is the season that was just completed. The Saber Softball Squad was poised to have a great season coming off the 2019 summer going 29-9 and rolling to the Bluegrass Conference title. But the Sabers wanted more this season. While their ultimate goal of a trip to Fort Dodge fell one game short, the Sabers played a shortened season due to the pandemic but still managed a 20-6 record and were ranked most of the season in the class 1A ratings. The Sabers also had a new theme for this season, Be the Shark. Players Rylee Dunkin and Caity Reed told KRLS Sports what that meant to the team this summer…

Rylee:
Not going into the game be intimidated by others and have that attitude to win and one thing we started this year is be a shark, just be aggressive and want to win.”

Caity:
“He came in the first week of practice and every single day he said ‘Be a Shark,’ because if you’re going to be a minnow you’re going to lose.”

Coach Zack Dunkin presented the team with that theme on the first day of practice and it became a rallying cry for the Sabers. Twin Cedars only loses two seniors from this summer’s squad that is poised again to have another great summer of softball in 2021.
