The Pella City Council continued to focus on water main improvements at their meeting Tuesday.

Council approved a cost participation agreement with Pella Corporation for Clark Street Water Main Improvements. Assistant City Administrator Corey Goodenow says the City of Pella has agreed to handle the project’s contract administration and pay $152,901, with Pella Corp assuming the remaining balance of the contract at $214,005.

Council then awarded a contract with Synergy Contracting for $367,000 to reconstruct more than 2,200 linear feet of the Clark Street Water Main, with completion expected by the end of November. Synergy is also working on a water main project near Fifield Road to increase water flow for upcoming housing developments on the west side of the community north of West Washington Street.

Goodenow says the council also scheduled a public hearing for September 1st to review bids for the East Interchange Infrastructure Improvements (Water Main and Force Main) project. The force main construction is located along East Oskaloosa Street from 240th Street to 250th Street and extending south on 250th Street to south of Highway 163. The water main construction is located along East Oskaloosa Street from Baseline Drive to 250th Street and extends south on 250th Street to south of Highway 163; all in the City of Pella. Estimated cost for the project is just shy of $1 million ($987,140).
