With many school districts ready to begin in-person learning later this month, the Indianola Community School District Return to Learn Plan includes measures regarding health for students, teachers, and staff. School Nurse Cadi Williams tells KNIA News the job of a school nurse, maintaining the health and wellness of students, won’t change much this year despite the pandemic. Mrs. Williams said what will change however, will be a heightened version of standards.

“The things that have always been important, and we’ve always made an effort to do so, now is just geared up even more. How do we keep students coming in for daily medications away from students who might have an illness, things like that. Some things that won’t change, you’re still going to hear me harping on kids about washing their hands, drinking enough water, how much sleep they got, all those things are important regardless of COVID. They also help reduce the spread of infection, because healthy bodies can help fight it, but it’s still just a heightened situation.’

Mrs. Williams will be featured in an upcoming Back to School series of In Depth with Dr. Bob Leonard.
