Two sixth grade teachers at Indianola Middle School have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, according to an email sent out by Principal Kristy Ellis, which has prompted a move to remote learning.

Ellis sent a message to sixth grade parents and guardians that stated, among other things, an immediate notification was sent to the superintendent and Warren County Health Services, and contact tracing was undertaken to determine others who were in direct contact, which indicated seven other sixth grade teachers could potentially be affected. One of those teachers has now tested positive, and contact tracing has determined five additional sixth grade teachers had come into contact with the positive case.

Per the Indianola School District Return to Learn Plan, quarantined staff will have at least two hours per day of office hours, in addition to Zoom meetings for regularly scheduled class times.

The school library and sixth grade wing was deep cleaned and disinfected, and the teachers will be quarantined until September 4th, with in-person education resuming on September 8th.
