At Tuesday’s Knoxville City Council meeting, the council approved a change order for the Competine Trail project. The change order authorizes the removal of a slab of concrete that was found underground while paving the trail. Parks and Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers says that this will only slightly hinder progress of the project, and the completion date is relatively unchanged.

“It was a little bit of a bump in the road, but it shouldn’t slow us down too much. We found some concrete that was buried along the waterway. So that has kind of slowed progress down a little bit. But right now, we’re still on track. Obviously this week it’s raining, so we’ll have to add some working days to the end of the contract.”

The project is expected to be completed by the first week of October. More information about the project and the change order can be found by clicking here.
