For the second straight meet, the Twin Cedars Cross Country Squad was very near a meet win as the Sabers placed second to Collins/Maxwell by 12 points at the Colfax-Mingo Invitational on Thursday. Rylee Dunkin stayed perfect on the season winning the girls race with Cheyenne Bruns in sixth for the Sabers top tens. Dunkin then hurried back to Twin Cedars for the volleyball squad’s match against Moravia which went five sets, but the Sabers came out on the short end of the 3-2 decision. Dunkin had 15 assists on the night while Brooke Roby came up with five kills, and Ali Mockenhaupt had 20 digs. The Saber Volleyball Squad will host a triangular Saturday with Murray and Pleasantville starting bright and early at 8:00am. Twin Cedars finally gets its football season underway tonight as the Sabers were unable to start two weeks ago due to an outbreak of COVID-19 in the school and going to online learning which meant sports was shut down. The Sabers are going to utilize a new offense and defense that Coach Cam Parker hopes will give his program a spark on both sides of the ball. Winfield-Mt. Union is the opponent and is coming off a 73-32 loss to Montezuma last week. The Wolves love to run the ball, already churning up 628 yards in two weeks of play while throwing the ball just four times in two games. Kick off from Saber Stadium is at 7:00pm.
