It’s a clash of longtime district rivals as Carlisle comes to try and spoil Pella’s homecoming football game this evening.

One of the best rush defenses in Class 3A — the Dutch, will host one of the best running games from the Wildcats.

Head Coach Jay McKinstrey says it will take a combination of disciplined defense to slow the triple option and longer possessions of offense to try and keep Carlisle from running all over Pella as they did in 2019.

Last year, the Wildcats rushed for 398 yards when they knocked off the Dutch in a 42-36 classic in the non-district schedule last fall. However, Pella owns the all-time series, with a 14-3 all-time record in the matchup.

Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. on the KRLS2 stream with Trevor Castle and Randy Sikkema. Those planning to attend Pella’s Homecoming festivities Friday or the rest of the fall season will want to bring a face mask with them at Pella High School. All spectators will be required to wear face masks when walking through gates/doors and moving throughout the stadium or gymnasium.
