pleasantville-3

As the undefeated Trojans prepare for the second half of the season, they face a familiar foe in the winless Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks.

Pleasantville is off to their best start since 2017 and looks poised for a deep playoff run, but it’s actually the passing game that will be the story tonight.

Colfax-Mingo, led by quarterback Colton Lind, utilizes a pass heavy offense and have been quite efficient despite the lack of a victory so far in 2020.

Head coach Mack Jorth feels his team’s secondary is up for perhaps their biggest task of the season, and last week’s win against Central Decatur was a good measuring stick for this week’s opponent.

“I think last week was a good start for us. I thought Central Decatur did a nice job throwing the ball against us and gave us a good chance to realize some of the things we need to do a little better job of. We’ve been really working a lot of pass defense this week in preparation for Colfax-Mingo. They like to spread the ball around the entire field. So it’s a good opportunity for us to develop our game.”

Cornerback Colby Sandholdt and safety Caylor Clark, also the Trojans’ QB, have been rock solid on defense this year. Sandholdt has been on an island, including two pick sixes against Lynnville-Sully, and Clark has multiple interceptions as a safety and has yet to throw one as the starting quarterback this year.
