The Knoxville School Board met in regular session Monday. The board approved the Gifted and Talented handbook and received the annual financial report.

The board approved an SBRC Request for Allowable Growth and Supplemental Aid for a Negative Special Education Balance and an SBRC request for allowable costs. The board also discussed transparency and publicity, where board member Larry Scott praised the district’s efforts in keeping COVID-19 out of the district.

“What I’m particularly pleased with, and it’s a big please for me, is that people are going to come down with COVID, that’s just the way it is. But it’s not coming from the school. We aren’t the problem, and that tickles me to death. We’re doing everything we can to contain it and keep it away.”

Following the discussion, the board went into closed session to review the district’s Emergency Operation Plan and to evaluate the superintendent.

The next Knoxville School Board meeting will be October 13th at 5:30 p.m.
