The latest update from the City of Indianola shows an additional five cases of the COVID-19 virus within city limits since the September 24th update. The City of Indianola and surrounding fire district are nearing the 300 case mark, with 232 within city limits and an additional 63 within the Indianola Fire District for a total of 295.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, nearly 27,000 antigen test results from newly required surveillance testing at long-term care facilities will be added to case numbers. This update will result in an increase in the number of individual test results and the number of antigen tests currently reported.

The IDPH shows Warren County with a growth of 18 cases since the September 24th update for 964 overall, showing a growth of 186 cases through the month of September, significantly down after a growth of 284 cases in the month of August. Active cases continue to fall as well, dropping significantly down to 185 from 247 on the September 24th update. Warren County has six deaths from the virus.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has set a 15% positive test rate as a metric that might indicate schools should move to remote learning. As of Monday, Warren County is tied for the lowest rate in the state at 2.8%, while Marion County is at 8.3%. There are 14 counties currently over the threshold.
