king-and-queen-2

The 2020 Knoxville High School Homecoming King and Queen were crowned Thursday evening in Ken Locke Stadium.

Queen Jalen Nelson and King Mason Murphy say they were honored to become Knoxville High School royalty.

“I’m very surprised,” said Nelson. “Me and Derek [Cardwell] were joking that I should talk to my dad about how to speak on the radio. Very shocked, but I’m very grateful for the experience.”

“It was definitely a surprise,” said Murphy. “I’m just happy I got the support of everybody out here to vote for me. I think being a good guy is what did that, and I just want to keep that positivity spreading around. So I’m very happy that I got that honor.”

The other candidates were Amy Sullivan, Marley McKay, Tara Uitermarkt, Josalin McKeever, Kieren Nichols, Dawson Black, Mike Hudson and Jaxon Zuck. Those in attendance also saw performances from the marching band, dance team and cheerleaders. An interview with Murphy and Nelson can be heard on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
