The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday evening. They held a public hearing on and approved a rezoning request for 406 Shappell Street to residential. They approved an ordinance relating to handicapped parking within the city. Under the new ordinance, handicapped parking shall be provided in accordance with the Americans
with Disabilities Act.

The council also approved a zoning ordinance to allow for approval of proposals that meet setback requirements. The ordinance states that when a property owner who owns a home that does not meet current setback regulations proposes an addition or a porch that meets current setback regulations, the approval will be done administratively with no variance required.

The next Knoxville City Council meeting will be October 19th at 6:15 p.m.
