Last spring when the high school football schedule came out, there was one glaring very surprising omission from the local football slate, the annual battle for the Marion County Eight-Man Championship. Due to the pandemic and several other factors, that game will now be played on Saturday October 17th at 1:00pm at Melcher-Dallas Field. Both Twin Cedars and their rivals to the west, the Saints, have both opted out of the eight-man playoffs this season and decided to end their seasons by playing each other. Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas Athletic Directors Trent Verwers and Jim Crozier both say it gives the teams and fan bases a chance to play each other this season and not have to worry about traveling possibly a long distance to play a district champion in the playoffs.
