The high school cross country regular season is coming to a close this week, and local teams and athletes remain in the rankings voted on by Iowa’s Cross Country Coaches.

Pella is No. 3 among Class 3A boys’ teams, behind No. 1 DCG and No. 2 Marion. Pella now has three athletes in the top 30 individual rankings, as Sophomore Chase Lauman has entered at No. 30, with Josiah Wittenberg (20th) and Tony Schmitz (26th) staying in the ratings. The Lady Dutch remain in the 3A girls teams to watch, just outside of the top 15. PCM’s girls are also a team to watch in Class 2A.

The Indianola girls are the 13th ranked team in Class 4A. Teammates Emily Naughton (22nd) and Gracie Foster (29th) remain in the top 30 among 4A individuals.

Knoxville’s Norah Pearson is currently 15th among individual girls in 3A. Rylee Dunkin of Twin Cedars is rated 9th and J’Lyn Knutson of Melcher-Dallas is 19th among Class 1A girls.
