As the transition to fall is complete in south central Iowa, the City of Pella and Pella Historical Society–as well as many organizations, businesses, and residents, are now gearing up to prepare for the spring.

Shipments of tulip bulbs have arrived, and the community will be planting those over the next few weeks for the hope of a bountiful bloom from mid-April to mid-May.

Pella Historical Society Executive Director Valerie Van Kooten says between the City of Pella Parks Department, Pella Historical Society, Fair Haven Gardens, and other local efforts, more than 300,000 bulbs are planted annually every fall in the Tulip City.
