The Knoxville Lions Club recently committed $10,000 as part of its plan to fulfill a $50,000 donation to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics Foundation. The club normally relies on revenue from parking vehicles at the Knoxville Raceway, and was able to come up with funds to donate despite the shortened season. Event organizer Bob Augustin with the Knoxville Lions says that this is one of the most important causes the club has taken on.

“This came about by wanting to help our community, like we always do. The Knoxville Lions have been participating in other events throughout the years, and we wanted a big one, as we say. We shouted out and made a goal of $50,000 to donate towards our local community hospital. The people that come in here are either diabetic, or have some eyesight issues, or there could be some hearing issues. This is what the Lions stand for.”

To date, the Knoxville Lions have donated $20,000. The remaining $30,000 is expected to be raised and donated within the next few years. Hear more from Knoxville Lions Event Organizer Bob Augustin on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
