The PCM volleyball team hosted its regular season finale Thursday, as South Hamilton visited Monroe. The Mustangs started strong and had some favorable plays in the end for a 3-1 victory.

PCM jumped out to a 5-0 lead to open the match, and easily took set 1 25-9. Set 2 went the way of the Hawks, as South Hamilton finished their strongest set of the night by winning 25-20.

PCM held a 15-8 lead in set 3, and after a timeout, dominated the rest of the way through the set for a 25-11 win. The teams went blow for blow in set 4, and South Hamilton nearly forced a fifth set. But PCM came back for a 25-23 win to close the match. Head Coach Mike Vittetoe says it was important to close the home slate with a victory.

PCM finishes the regular season 13-18 overall, which is the program’s highest win total since 2007. Up next is a trip to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Monday evening for the Class 3A postseason opener.
