As Pella Christian Cross Country Head Coach Mike Buchheit continues working to build the programs to new heights, he does so building on his previous experience.

The Eagles head into a loaded 2A field for state qualifying this Thursday at Williamsburg, but Buchheit feels like his teams can make a splash and push some of the field at the site, especially as he works to craft the right “tapering” process.

Buchheit says at this point in the season, no additional training is going to make a difference — instead, resting and recovering is the key, lessons he learned while he was with the Pella programs who have some of the best end of season runs in Iowa, and a method he’s trying to tailor and make his own on Eagle Lane.

Pella Christian heads to Williamsburg this Thursday afternoon for the Class 2A District meet.
