With the recent effort by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds to promote the arts and culture in the state, the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs is asking residents to get more involved if they wish to see those areas improve. Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs Director Chris Kramer tells KNIA News there are a ton of ways to help out local organizations.

“Go out and look at some of the arts and cultural non-profits in your community, see what they have to offer, watch some local performances. You can volunteer, you can take classes, you can become a member. Then if you feel like getting more involved, become a leader. Join a group, whether its a downtown arts council, historic preservation commission, a book club at the library or historical society. There are a lot of ways you can get involved and be active.”

Kramer will be featured on an upcoming In Depth with Dr. Bob Leonard.
